*An Elderly Ferengi strides into the main hall of Serenity Station, a long robe detailed in gold hangs loosely over his plump form, he is shadowed by a tall bodyguard who stand silently at his side, he glances round the empty room*

*He calls out in a high pitched voice*

"Hello?......" *Waits a few seconds*

"Hello?...hrmph"

"....no one here eh? ....."

*He waits a few seconds more before tapping his gold cane on the floor and clearing his throat....*

"In that case, I claim this station to belong to the Ferengi Empire!"

*He unrolls a small document and starts writing what looks to a contract and muttering to himself*

"hmmm.....a name......"

There is a flash of light and the enigmatic Q appears dressed in similar dress to the Grand Nagus. He looks pleased with himself and his surprise entrance then notices his attire.

"On non! this wont do at all"

Frowning he clicks his fingers and appears in a plain outfit and in his hand the scroll that the nagus held moments before.

"tut tut great Nagus, the Station is for all you lesser life forms, a gift if you will to all the races of the alpha quadrant, a place to snarl at one another or eat that repugnant muck you call food or whatever it is you do in such places as this"

With a grand gesture he waves his arm towards the doors to the station and as they slide open with an audible hiss he clicks his fingers once more and in a mocking tone cries

" Generosity has always been my weakness."

Grinning slyly he disappears in a flash of light once more taking the small document with him.

*A group of three humanoids approach during the exchange, they remain silent during Q's manifestation. When he departs they slowly draw closer, the central humanoid tilts his head in respect to the Nagus*.

"We are most amused by the ambition of the Ferengi Empire, and so it would seem is our enigmatic host." He briefly pauses before continuing.

"Greetings I am Ambassador Mandukar D'Amarok of the Romulan Star Empire, and I formally request the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Ferengi Empire and the Romulan Star Empire.".

*The Grand Nagus looks a little lost after the appearance and subsequent disappearance of Q, stood with a quill and no document.......*

*Eventually he recovers his composure.....and notices the Romulans*

*He listens intently to the Romulans before spreading his arms wide and half bowing......and produces what looks to be a smile *

"The Ferengi Empire welcome your request for diplomatic relations, I am sure a relationship will bring many opportunities to both our people"

*The Nagus whispers in his bodyguards ear and the bodyguard punches a few buttons on a pad he is holding*

*Another 2 Ferengi run in carrying several sheets of parchment, a folding table and chair. And what looks to be a large bowl of grubs...........*

*The Grand Nagus sits down with a sigh and helps himself to a handful of tube grubs"

"So, Ambassador Mandukar D'Amarok, what can the Ferengi Empire do for you?"

*A ferengi sits either side of the Grand Nagus, parchment in hand, and quill at the ready.......*

*The Ambassador raises an eyebrow in quizzical suspicion and briefly glances at his aides*.

"Well your... Excellency... it is somewhat early days for a formal agreement between our Respective Empires, but that does not mean we can not enter into dialogue, one moment if you please"

*The Ambassador sends his aides away who return with various items, including various Romulan snacks and bottles of a strange, bright, light blue liquid. Then he takes his seat opposite the Ferengi*

"Shall we honour the occaision with a toast?"

*The Grand Nagus gestures for aides to put away their parchments and raises his voice a touch*

"You heard the Ambassador, put away your quills......"

*He smiles back to the ambassador*

"The eagerness of youth............"

*The Grand Nagus picks up a glass of the blue liquid and raises an eyebrow quizzically*

"Romulan ale?"

"And what should we drink to....?"

*The Ambassador smiles.*

"Yes Romulan Ale, the traditional social drink of my people. Hmm... "To the glory of the Romulan Star... oh sorry force of habit."

*He hands you a full glass, pauses, coughs and solemnly raises his drink in the air.*

"To friendship between the Ferengi Empire and the Romulan Star Empire! To our destinies as Lords of the Stars, and last but by no means least to the enigmatic Q"

*He then takes a large quaff with a triumphant flourish.*

*The Grand Nagus takes the glass and listens while the Ambassador makes his toast, and then speaks in his high pitched whine*

"To friendship and should we not forget.....profit"

*The Nagus confidently takes a large swig of the Romulan Ale*

"hmmm....my lobes are tingling"

*The Nagus looks around the barren station and to the Romulan Ale in his hands*

*He then mutters to one of his aides who punches a few buttons on another pad, you cant quite hear what he says but you hear the words...opportunity....profit.....and contracts.....*

*A few moments later another aide in what looks to be a workmans uniform starts measuring a few of the walls around the side of the meeting room*

*The Grand Nagus looks back to the Romulan party, and speaks again*

"So Ambassador, in the spirit of this new friendship. If there is anything you or your crew need.......be it drinks...food...or entertainment perhaps.....the Ferengi will be happy to meet your every need.......for a small price of course"

*The Grand Nagus does another bow while speaking the last few words flourishing his hands more elaboratley this time...*

PostSubject: Say Hello to the Klingons   Sat Sep 17, 2011 3:33 am

Meanwhile one of the Ferengi assistants, the one known as Quarff. Stare's idly into one of the many view screens that show the endless expanse of star filled space. Dreaming of the day when he, Quarff is Grand Nagus, of bathing in Latinum and of all the creatures that will one day lick his ears. A slow smile spreads across his face showing his yellowed pointy teeth. This is quickly followed by a furrowing of his brow, was that a ripple in the star screen? He thinks to himself, tilting his head sideways and narrowing his eyes he examines the view screen more closely. Yes, there is definitely a ripple, it seems to be getting bigger. The Ferengi known as Quarff drops his tape measure.

Suddenly the station shakes violently, there is no sound but anyone familiar with space combat would instantly recognise the concussion of a near miss from a photon torpedo. Quarff watches in horror as the stars fade out and slowly a ship materialises in there place, " oh no!" And the screens go dark.

Amidst the confusion one of the view screens springs into life, a warrior sits in a throne like command chair, his skin is dark and his hair braided and he is clothed in skins, bone and metal.

"I am Kurn, War master of the Klingon Empire. Unknown station lower your shields and prepare to be boarded." He speaks slowly his gravelly voice full of menace, raising his arm he balls his hand into a fist. "If you do not accede to my demands, I will slag this station. Think wisely you have five minutes."

Oh my! comes the cry from the meeting room.

The Klingons are here! a panicked looking Q is suddenly amongst you looking really worried. Bounding to the view screen he peers at it with some distress.

What shall we do? he looks at you all expecting some sort of response.

Suddenly gaining his composure with a sly grin he clicks his fingers and the impressive Klingon ship is suddenly gone in a flash of light. In the Q's outstretched hand is a miniature vessel similar to the one that moments ago threatened the very station you stand within.

Chuckling to himself he pokes at the miniature version of the Klingon vessel and watches as small blasts of light and tiny torpedoes fire rapidly at Q's offending finger.

Now now, dont be rude he says in a fatherly manner at the vessel as it renews its efforts to destroy Q's finger and attempting to re cloak.

feisty aint they exclaims Q looking at the present delegates. Clicking his finger on the free hand once more the vessel disappears and the Klingons find themselves aboard the station, the vessel no where to be seen miniature or otherwise.

know this Kurn of the Klingon Empire you shall not bypass the warp conduits again with a warship, i have seen to that, bring only yourselves and know that this station will defend itself next time you attempt to threaten it or its occupants, i cannot intervene everytime you decide to go primal on each other and this station will be a lot more unforgiving than myself...

Letting the words hang for a moment in the air he stares at the Ferengi who first spotted the vessel and shakes his head Thought like that can only get you in trouble... looking at the Grand Nagus he speaks again One to watch i fear... what he could possibly mean is lost on all except a quivering Ferengi aid.

A flash of light again and the Q is gone.

*The Ambassador stands and frowns.*

"I must confess that I find our host's apparent omnipotence... almost... insulting. We Romulans are a proud race, to be so... outclassed... why it is almost too much to bear. No, there must be a deeper truth to all this..."

He turns to the new arrivals

"Greetings I am Ambassador Mandukar D'Amarok of the Romulan Star Empire, and I formally request the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Klingon Empire and the Romulan Star Empire."

His aides move quickly to pour fresh drinks.

At first glance the Klingon warrior that threatened the station stands before you but upon closer inspection you notice that this man seems years younger, whilst still not young he no longer carries the confidence and threat of someone who has seen endless violence and past through it.

"Greetings fellow Ambassador's, I am Kurn. I have been sent to this place on behalf of Emporer Scolak of the Klingon empire." Turning to the Romulan Ambassador,"Whilst the Klingon Empire appreciates your offer of diplomatic relations, I have been instructed to say that this cannot be so easily achieved. First we must test our strength against yours and then measure your honour. If you are deemed suitable then maybe cordial relations can be achieved."

It seems that the Klingon Ambassador is completely oblivious as to what has just happened. Taking a glass he raises it into the air,"however, I am more than happy to share your hospitality. To strength and honour and many glorious battles. Kapoch!"

*The Romulan Ambassador seems perplexed at this.*

"To clarify, do you propose some manner of trial or duel... or do you imply that our respective Empires are currently at war until such time as we prove our strength?"

Helping himself to another drink the Klingon laughs,"I do not speak of trials or duels and we are definitely not at war. What I am saying is this, for relations to exist between our peoples, there must first be battle. My people, the Klingon Empire will have it no other way and whilst I understand that this may seem strange to you, as a senseless loss of life and resource. I hope you understand how the thought of allying with someone you have not fought and measured would seem strange to me and my people." Draining his glass the Klingon smiles happily,"I like this drink."

The Ambassador's face darkens, "As a hypothetical scenario, let us imagine that one of your vessels happened upon a distant and poorly defended colony of the Romulan Star Empire, an unlikely event I assure you, would the Klingon Empire attack?"

In the process of yet again refilling his glass the Klingon pauses and then sets down both decanter and glass before turning to face the Romulan Ambassador.<"There would be no glory in this, one does not seek to battle babes on teat, or suckling women nor farmers hoeing there fields. However it is always best not to let your people be undefended, hypothetical or not."

"Be careful how much of that you drink, like the Romulan themselves it is deceptively potent and has reduced many to a state of ruin. However if you will excuse me gentleman, I have urgent matters to attend."

*He nods to each of you and departs to organise the Romulan Quarter of the station.*

*The Grand Nagus watches the exchange from the safety of his desk...when the Romulan Ambassador leaves he realises only the Ferengi and the Klingons are in the room, his face breaks into a forced smile as he looks towards the Klingon*

*He stands awkwardly from his desk and does an elaborate bow to the Klingon, before standing very close to his bodyguard, his high pitched voice sounding particuarly slimy and little hesitant*

"Ambassador Kurn....... I can draw some interesting parallels in your attitude in relations and the world of commerce......"

*The Ferengi seems to be slowly moving towards the exit as he speaks......*

"A ferengi would never go into a business partnership with just anybody.......firstly you must prove you have the lobes for it......"

*he bows again as shuffling backwards towards the ferengi quarters*

"Without a firm grasp of marketing, accounting and contractual law........I wouldnt even consider the venture......."

*The Grand Nagus seems to realise he's rambling and pauses at the entrance to the ferengi quarters while to regain his compusure..........*

"In short, I have the utmost admiration and respect for your stance on dilpomatic relations, Ambassador Kurn"

*The Grand Nagus smiles again looking a little nervous as he waits for the Ambassadors reply*
