Quarffs Bar

A small army of Ferengi engineers have been seen running in and out of a large room off the main meeting area for diplomats, carrying an assortment of materials aswell as tools. A large cloth sheet has been hung over the entrance blocking the activities inside from view. A large neon sign has been hung over the door reading;

QUARFFS

A poster stating- OPENING SOON! has been stuck to it.

There is also a small picture hung next to the door with a picture of a young smiling ferengi, and apparently a quote.

"The diplomats who come to Serenity need somewhere to relax and unwind. We at Quarffs consider it our duty to lighten your burden. Dabo, dancing girls, holosuites.......we cater for ALL needs."

*Judging by the small groups of Romulan delegates that occasionally form to observe and discuss the building work, the new bar will be well received.*

Stomping through the corridors of the station the Crown prince Xrathis of the Gorn Hegemony pauses with a couple of Gorn soldiers and they begin hissing at one another. One of the Gorn comments to the Crown Prince.

Crown Prince Xrathis... It seems the other races will be gathering at this spot soon

Hissing in pleasure the Crown Prince bares his teeth

Then we will not have to go far to far to feed then

The other soldiers hiss in pleasure with their leader and eyeing the working Ferengi hungrily they continue on their way.

*A very young Ferengi carrying a pile of what looks like leaflets moves hesitantly upto the Gorn and hands him a leaflet*

*He speak in a high pitched and slightly rushed squeal*

"Your highness" *he bows*

"Quarffs Bar will offer all forms of entertainment a Gorn could wish for"
"We are fully stocked on all cultural food and drink as well as offering the use of our cutting edge holosuites and the programs within, specifically tailored for the visitors to this station"

*The glint of pride in his eye, vanished when he looks back up to the towering Gorn party*

"We hope you visit us soon"

*He scuttles away to another group in the foyer*

"a slim hooded figure wanders into the refreshment area and asks for a warm terran brandy and a platter of sprouts. he then then sits quietly and observes occasionally , openly studying his scanner"

Preloc sitting in his usual seat facing the door of Quarff's observes the entry of the Vulcan with marked interest. As the robed figure seats himself Preloc's eyes seem to linger on the plate of sprouts and the brandy and a small, almost imperceptible smile curls the corners of his bloodless lips.

"notices the cardassian and winks" "the brandy still has not been touched"

Gul Du'Mar is seen enjoying a glass of kunar and a meal with two other Cardassian officers at a table. The conversation appears lightly humored and not overly discreet, as it has been for some time. Even those nearby are able to eavesdrop somewhat on the conversation.

Julak: "Next time, the Trill will think twice before sending their defensive line to another world. Their remaining defenses were barely even a problem."

Du'Mar: "Three units, Julak. Three."

Kilarin: "And an entire world, conquered, practically overnight!"

Du'Mar scoffs at his plate of food, but continues to eat.

Julak: "I wonder how long it will take for the Trill battlegroup to return to their homeworld. Our fleet will be there waiting for them still, no doubt!

Du'Mar, growing furious, sets down his utensils with force.

Du'Mar: "We have won, yes. We have the Trill homeworld, without losing any ships, and only a few divisions of men. But for what, gentlemen? To show we're serious about securing that wormhole, in an entirely different system?"

Their voices grow louder.

Julak: "We've proven ourselves to the quadrant. We've made our mark here. The Defense Initiative may not disband immediately, but they will certainly hesitate before taking us on directly at Bajor."

Du'Mar: "We should have taken the Trill fleet at Bajor first, head on, and with full force, and left their pathetic little homeworld alone. *mutters* Had I been in command, that's what would have happened."

Suddenly silence envelopes the table, and then Julak and Kilarin rise from their seats.

Julak: *hushed voice* That, Gul Du'Mar, is why you are NOT in command."


The two officers take final swigs of their glasses of kunar and exit the bar.


Several minutes later, a dabo girl finds Gul Du'Mar face down on the table with a knife in the back of his neck.

*Later that day, Quarff can be seen pacing up and down behind his bar, speaking very quickly to no one in particular, questioning and reassuring himself*

"This is terrible....what will it do for Business???......this has never happened before.....all Quarff establishments are fun, safe places to eat, drink and spend........something must be done........"

*The muttering continues for some time before Quarff spends the rest of the day on communication terminals*

Watching the exchange from a darkened alcove , a romulan quickly swallows his ale and places a latinum coin on the bar on his way out. Nodding to Quarff he says

I think i should tell the admiral about this and quickly!
